Trackstar Antenna Manual
Track Star Smart Antenna Accessory The Track Star Smart Antenna is intended to provide a very low-cost means by which automatic vehicle GPS tracking capability can be easily added to fleets that already make use of in-vehicle computers with wireless connectivity. Using a USB GPS receiver / antenna and a special computer program installed on the in-vehicle computer, the Track Star Smart Antenna provides a full-featured GPS vehicle tracking and location system at a small fraction of the cost associated with installing discrete GPS vehicle tracking devices. The Smart Antenna takes advantage of the existing wireless connectivity and provides vehicle GPS position updates at intervals specified by the user. The standard version of the product is delivered with an antenna as shown in the photo on the right. Other antenna options are available to meet specific project needs. The product is also comprised of the Track Star GPS Forwarder application that installs as a service on your in-vehicle computer. This program captures the GPS vehicle tracking data and forwards it to the in the same fashion as any of the other GPS devices supported in that software.
For those customers who already have GPS capabilities through embedded GPS receivers, etc., Track Star offers the Track Star GPS Forwarder as a stand alone product. The service application allows the user to specify how often the GPS tracking positional data is to be sent to the AVLS software application and make other configuration settings. Because the software runs as a service, it runs automatically in the background each time the computer is started. Also available with the Smart Antenna product is a copy of Franson GPS-Gate software which permits the Smart Antenna to transmit GPS coordinates for vehicle tracking, while simultaneously allowing the computer to receive GPS positional data for in-vehicle navigation, making it ideal for work order and dispatch applications, as well as other uses.
Introducing the Turnigy Trackstar 80Amp TURBO 1/12 and 1/10 Sensored brushless car ESC. Featuring a CNC alloy case top which incorporates the heatsink for the Mosfets, neat terminal cups for both the battery input and ESC output cables. The ESC software has a large number of user programmable settings such as Punch, initial brake, drag brake, boost timing RPM, boost timing, Turbo timing, Turbo delay, Turbo ramp, boost acceleration - allowing this ESC to be customised in nearly every way you could ever need for 1/12 or 1/10 scale on or off road racing! So what is Turbo? Well simply put - Turbo is a short duration burst of top end motor RPM and power - best used sparingly, it is similar in effect to KERS on the current Formula 1 cars!
The Turbo function is fully user programmable too! I purchased one of these 80A speed controls from a fellow racer and have used it with excellent results in my 2wd Traxxas Slash with a 13.5 sensored motor in dirt oval racing. I have even managed to take a TQ and Amain win. When I bought a second 2wd Traxxas Slash I placed an order for the same ESC but this time brand new from HK.
Trackstar Manual
Delivery was very slow and the tracking I paid for stopped working once the item reached my country. When I finally received my ESC, I was disappointed to find that it contained just the ESC and a few loose pieces of wire. There was no manual or instruction sheet on how to configure this ESC and the documents provided online are poor and one is for a Hextronik speed control and not the Hobbyking which is very odd.
The only way to adjust any of the features is with the optional program box or some USB software that when I checked does not exist. If you plan to buy this ESC, make sure you also buy the program box or you will not be able to change any of the settings. Overall, the ESC works well and the price point is certainly attractive. The difference in price between this ESC and more well known brands is not that much and I think that HK could at least include a small setup sheet to at least get users started in blinky mode.

This ESC could be perfect for that price, but it isn't, because of missing an important function, as most other sensored brushless ESC's have: Reverse Rotation There is NO Reverse Rotation function available, so you must be sure BEFORE buying this ESC that your motor runs the 'right' direction.
So this ESC is.NOT. suitable for models like this: Graupner: Radicator,Baja Elektro Truggy Ansmann: Smacker Jamara: Major, Lightray, General, BL (BL), Liquid, Cocoon, Toxic, Tiger, Lipon Reely: Ranger, Carbon Fighter (!!!), Blaze, Titan I hope I can prevent other people from buying the wrong ESC. And Hobbyking: It's a shame, that the reverse function isn't implemented into software, so only 2 Crowns.
