The gravitational force was an important part of the first course in physics. This course is an introduction to the fundamental ideas relating to the nature of electricity and the electric forces in nature. In one sense, it is a continuation of Physics 131 in that the basic principles of Newton®s laws and the concept of energy will be an integral part of this course. (However, the course depends essentially none on the ideas of Physics 132). We will introduce the ideas of electric charges and electric fields and how they interact, electric current, voltage, and electric circuits, and magnetic fields and how they effect the behavior of electric charges and how electric and magnetic fields are related. The course is much more abstract (and more mathematical) than either of the first two courses since it deals with things that are not a part of our common daily experiences - but does develop the ideas sequentially through the entire course, each new topic following from the previous one. Textbook: Benson, UNIVERSITY PHYSICS - the text used in the regular lecture sections of Physics 131 and 132.
