Onan 4000 Genset Emerald Plus Manual
Hello Guys, This generator set came with my bus that I will be outfitting for RV service. I won't be using it in the bus, but would like to learn more about it. It's missing it's fan shroud, and I fear that that may have been where it's identification was located??
I've had it running one time after borrowing a fuel pump, and it did generate. I've since learned (from you guys) that I very likely put it's AVR in peril. I won't run it again without disconnecting it until the collector rings are cleaned. Here are some photos. You gen looks nice, the aluminum is not all oxidized white. You must be in a dry place. Here water condenses on them after cold nights.
Being 4kw its a BGE model, NHE is 6.5kw. Since it doesn't have a big transformer voltage regulator by the starter it's spec D or newer. I looked at the parts manual, found following: Specs E, F (and likely D also) have breaker points box for spark coil, so if electronic ignition it's spec G or newer. If that white wire tube goes into top of genset it likely is electronic. Look at the control board part number: According to parts manual following specs came from factory with these part numbers. This method for all following could be wrong if someone replaced control board or other parts, but it's a reasonable guess 300–3950 Spec E–G 300–3763–01 Spec H–M 300–4901–01 Begin Spec N - Also part number on R6, the battery charging 25 watt Resistor, by the starter is 304–0794 Spec F–J 304–0797 Begin Spec K Also coming off that resistor starting spec k is a diode bridge rectifier, part number 305–0718.
